Dr Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler, a noted German biochemist and Homoeopath, discovered the Biochemic system in the year 1873. He analysed ashes of dead bodies and concluded that they contain 12 compound salts, viz.Calcium Flouride, Calcium Phosphate, Calcium Sulphate, Ferrum Phosphate, Kali Muriaticum, Kali Phosphoricum, Kali Sulphuricum (Kali salts are Potassium salts), Magnesium Phosphoricum, Natrum Muriaticum (actually common salt), Natrum Phosphoricum, Natrum Sulphuricum and Silicea.
These twelve Biochemic minerals are present in every cell of the human body and for proper functioning of body tissues, a correct balance of these minerals must be maintained. Dr Schuessler was of the opinion that the disease is caused by the insufficiency of one or more of these organic salts in the tissues/cells of the body and thusthe supply of these deficient salt(s) will cure the disease/ relieve symptoms.
The Biochemic remedies are usually available in the lower potencies or strengths (as compared to homoeopathic remedies) and they go from 3x, 6x, 12x to 30x.
These medicines are prescribed on evaluating several variables; the symptom(s), their aggravating factors (worsening the problems) and ameliorating factors (improving / alleviating the problem), state of the tongue, the discharges (nasal, sweat, vaginal etc).
For the readers’ benefit and easy grasp the indications for each of them are given below but itis sincerely requested to please take the guidance of a Homoeopath/ Biochemic practitioner and do NOT self-medicate.
